6:00 am Friday Sessions at the Temple

An Early Morning Session at the Temple
Our Washington DC Temple will be holding an early 6:00 am session on the first Friday of each month so that members can attend before their work day begins.  For the first part of 2017, those dates will be will be Fridays - 1.6.2017, 2.3.2017, 3.3.2017, 4.7.2017, 5.5.2017, 6.2.2017 and 7.7.2017.

Institute moves to Leesburg in February

Institute MOVES to Leesburg in FEBRUARY
 
Our ongoing Institute class now being held on Wednesday mornings at our Ashburn Stake Center will move to the Leesburg building beginning in February, not January has was previously published.  The schedule is Wednesdays from  9:15 am – 10:45 am.  The course of study continues to be the New Testament.  Childcare is available.  It is provided on a rotating basis by those who have their children attend.  **Please note, in case of inclement weather, Institute will follow LCPS, if weather closes the schools, Institute will not be held that day.

Ways to Winterize your Home

Winter is Coming!  Here are some simple ways to winterize your home.
  • Clean gutters and downspouts in mid-fall and double-check them before winter. 
  • Replace the filter in your furnace. 
  • Close any vents in your home that may have been opened for the warm weather. 
  • Disconnect hoses from outside faucets and turn off the water.

Women's Volleyball

Stake Sports

The Ashburn stake is trying something new this year. Women will be playing volleyball on Saturdays, October 15, 22 and 29th at the Leesburg Building starting at 9:00 a.m.  Please contact Kemper Ure if you are interested.  

Note:  The Stake is not doing away with Women’s basketball but will be holding a one day basketball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 12th at the Stake Center instead of weekly games.

The Church has added new resources to the Mental Health page on LDS.org, including candid video interviews with members experiencing mental illness and answers to “hard questions" to these six topics.

  • sadness
  • eating disorders
  • sexual abuse
  • schizophrenia
  • suicide.
An additional section provides suggestions for questions such as “How can I feel happy when I can’t feel anything” and “How can I help people understand what I’m going through?”  Learn more at mentalhealth.lds.org/.

Addiction Recovery Group







SUPPORT GROUP 
If your life has become unmanageable because of addiction, there is hope. Come to an addiction recovery group meeting at 7 PM Sundays in the Stake High Council room. Meetings are confidential, anonymous and free. We can help with any addiction including substance, pornography, compulsive spending and eating disorders. If you are suffering from the addiction of your spouse or family member, find peace at the Spouse and Family Support Group on Tuesday s at 7 PM in the Stake High Council room.
